Gentle Therapeutic Hatha Yoga

Emphasis in this class will be gentle stretching and strengthening of the joints and muscles.  The instructor will use props including chairs to adapt the poses to the ability of each student.  Classes will focus on issues such as back pain, arthritis, tight shoulders, inflexibility and injuries or recuperation from illness.

Each class will include breath awareness and relaxation techniques to help nurture the body and calm the mind.

Linda Troutman, CYT, RYT (500) has practiced yoga for more than 20 years.  She has taught yoga for the last 10 years. Her students range in age from 2 - 90.  Her passion is therapeutic yoga.  She works with students with Arthritis, MS, Parkinson’s, Fibromyalgia, Scoliosis, Cancer and other conditions.

Linda believes that yoga meets you where you are.  She believes that yoga can be adapted for any person.  Her teaching style is an eclectic mix of therapeutic yoga encompassing the Iyengar method for precision of alignment along with breath synchronized practices of Viniyoga and vinyasa.  In addition to this she uses her experience to help her students find symmetry in each pose using props.

Linda is also a Certified YogaKids® teacher and trainer.  She holds in-service trainings and Taste of YogaKids® and Tools for Schools® workshops for yoga teachers, physical and academic educators as well as Occupational and Physical therapists and other professionals who work with children to help them learn to integrate yoga into their work with children.

Linda also works with children with special needs such ADD/ADHD, Autism, Down Syndrome, PDD, Sensory issues and other physical and social emotional difficulties in therapeutic group and private settings.
